As we go through everyday life, it’s easy to want to stay safely in a nest of complacency. While we may not be incredibly happy, at least we’re not incredibly unhappy. It’s safer to stay put rather than take risks. You are in a safe place where no one can hurt you. But being in a safe place also usually means that it is a sheltered place; a place that doesn’t allow you to learn and grow. A place that doesn’t require to you push yourself, to be more, to develop.

Take birds. Mamma birds sit on their eggs to keep them safe and warm. When the chicks finally hatch, she watches over them until she feels they are ready to grow. Then those little birds get a nice little shove out of the nest. The MUST spread their wings and fly! Even though they’ve never left the nest before, somehow they manage to survive. And then even thrive!

What is God pressing on your heart to spread your wings and do? God wants you to succeed and be happy. So even though taking a leap from your cozy nest might seem terrifying, God is there to give your wings the strength they need. So say a prayer, spread those wings, and jump!

Hast thou not known? hast though not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
